Review on 🌬️ Nordic Pure 16x20x1 Pleated Air Filter 16x20x1M12 6 Pack - High Performance Filtration Solution by Corey Krull

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent performance at a good price but installation issues. Conditionally recommended

It was time to reorder some 16x20x1 filters and I realized the six packs I used to buy were EXTREMELY expensive. While I like the performance of the other product, I thought it was worth looking into alternatives. First problem: What is a suitable alternative? There are several systems for rating the performance of HVAC filters. MERV or MPR? I had to find a chart online to find out that MERV 14-16 roughly equals MPR 2200. So. What are Nordic Pure 16x20x1 MERV 14 Plus Charcoal Pleated Air Filters for AC Ovens? My first impression of the building was positive. The framing is relatively rigid (compared to lower quality filters). The filter material seems to be quite durable and the carbon filter is similar to what you would find in good multi-stage (4 or 5 stage) air purifiers. So there are a few problems: 1.) Despite the quantitative performance of the filter. slightly worse than the filters I change, the flow rate is lower. Using a spring gauge and a clip from the middle of the center crease I measured about 2.5 Nm DIFFERENCE in force from normal. The pressure in the system is different for everyone, but more effort on the filter with the same filter performance is not good. That goes straight to the next issue. 2.) The filter size is smaller than ALL OTHER 16x20x1 filters I've used! This seems particularly strange considering there is a standard for this type of thing. The return air filter doors I use are fairly standard building materials. Generally the filters are a tight fit and the exposed screw heads provide the "bite" that holds the filters in place. These filters are just over 1/4 inch shorter in length and width. I had to use the cardboard from the shipping box to make the corner spacers. Soil, it also defies the idea of even having a good filter. While a good filter can deal with odors and allergens, its main function is to keep the heat exchanger clean. The filter doesn't work as well when air easily passes through the filter flows. My filters (I have 4 of this size, at each replacement), I noticed a whistle - the sound of diverted air. I've never had this problem. I usually glue the filter in a frame as it's just cheap insurance. In this case ABSOLUTELY essential. Low flow and small frame size make washers and tape optional in my opinion. As for filter performance, it's fine. I've selected some of the best (and most expensive) filters you can find. uy, to these is the understanding that there will likely be a trade-off in performance. As a filter, it seems to work pretty well (after you fix the installation issues). The reduction in flow affects the pressure in the HVAC system. It doesn't matter to me as I have enough AC units that only cover about 1300m² each, but YMMV. From this point of view it may seem that I am extremely critical of the product, but I am enthusiastic about the activated carbon filter. While my old filters are said to be impregnated with carbon material in the filter mesh, the Nordic Pure approach seems more substantial. Being in a home with multiple dogs is hard to tell if it's more effective, but it's at least as good, so that's a plus! I am a big advocate of good air quality. After all, you're taking at least 10 breaths per minute. Quality air filters should be a priority, even though "good" filters can shock you. However, that doesn't mean you won't see falling returns and falling costs at some point. If you are not confused by the two cons listed above, Nordic Pure filters should suit you. It's a bit messier, but you'll need to tape your filter frames on (IMHO) - and that's ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY with these filters. Conditionally recommended.
