Review on Dorman 626 524 Engine Heater Assembly by Jeremy Hudson

Item arrived in cheap bubble wrap. I checked the part for cracks as it could easily break during shipping. Since this part is injection molded plastic, I decided to inspect the inside as well. That's a good thing, because as you can see in the photo, the large intake pipe is half clogged with plastic residue! This means less antifreeze flow and potential failure due to pressurization and possibly a ruptured hose. Not to mention that plastic will break out and coolant will get into my engine or radiator. There is extra plastic at the bottom of the small hose from the tee. It's terrible. How it managed to pass quality control, I don't understand. I do not recommend buying this Dorman product as it could damage your vehicle. I will try to remove the extra plastic because my current part (although usable) has a hairline crack where the smaller Y tube is larger and I need my car to work on. I will update this after installation and point out any problems. I wouldn't recommend installing the new hose that comes with the kit unless you need to replace the old one. Make sure you have antifreeze when changing the hose. You may lose something by replacing the plastic case. Be sure to use hose clamps to shut off the flow when disconnecting and replacing the tee. I hope Dorman sees this fixed, sends me a quality replacement, and protects future customers.
