I have just received the tapestry stretcher. I chose it after carefully reading other reviews of similar products. In general I am satisfied. I bought a stretcher in two sizes for different sized projects. I had a problem with one of the screws in the wood, it was slightly bent. My husband and I were able to straighten a bent screw without damaging the wooden base it was installed in and now it works great. If the wood splits (which we feared) then I'd have to send the whole thing back. The size is large, assembly is easy, only gripe is the 'caps', the plastic pieces that hold your stuff to the rods, to hold your stuff in place, it's a little difficult to glue the tapestry material underneath. I am working on a piece that uses a thicker material similar to cross stitch and because it is a little thicker the caps are difficult to fit over the round bars. Also, the tension of my material is uneven on these bars. I wish there was a simpler/better design for holding stuff on the stretcher and it does it evenly. It lies comfortably in the hand when sewing, so there are no complaints. And I recommend this product mainly because I don't know of any other product (at the moment) that does the job better. I used round hoops to hold my stuff, but I also had the problem that the hoops didn't hold my stuff high enough.
