Review on Pentek 3G Slim Line πŸ”§ Pressure: Advanced Solution for Precise Pressure Control by Edwin Cen

A little common sense ensures success!

I USED 2 OF THESE to build a dual stage water filtration system under the sink. I wanted to get rid of the standalone water filtration system under the sink that we had. for years because: A) The patented filters we had to buy are ridiculously expensive. and B) The last set of replacement filters leaked and ruined the inside of the sink cabinet and destroyed the wood composite floor in the kitchen which we had to completely replace with tile. It was the last straw! I won't brand this system, but the name includes the letters G and B. However, we used the included faucet in our DIY filtration system. I attached 2 Pentek 158643 filter housings to the 2x4 and installed the 2x4 under the kitchen sink. The built-in mounting bracket design simplified this project. I connected the 2 housings with 3" copper tubing and connected the inlet and outlet with 3/8" plastic tubing and barbed fittings. The only problem I had was the red push button safety valves were leaking to begin with. So I took them apart and stretched the tiny spring a bit (I knew this in advance, and thanks to another review I read before I bought it.) I also put some Teflon Magic Lube in the o-ring under the relief valve.. "Problem solved. I never press the button because it's not necessary. The depressurization is done by simply shutting off the water supply and opening a faucet and is only required when changing the filter. The second problem was that the large o-rings in the housing didn't work at first completely sealed.Coating the o-rings with Magic Lube also solved this problem.I have been using these filter housings for 7 months now.no leaks and just successfully cleaned the filters changed, made sure everything was clean and re-greased the large o-rings. I used a toothbrush and a popular dish soap that starts with a "D" to keep the o-ring groove clean and free of old grease. other items I've used to replace filters, as well as the labels of two filters I've used in cases that produce pure, great-tasting water. I am not deducting stars for the above issues because I was aware of the poor mounting of the relief valve and how easy it is to fix. and lubricating the o-rings is the kind of common sense I should have known from years of pool maintenance. If you are looking for filter housings to build your water filtration system then I highly recommend this one. And remember, a little common sense will keep you from getting irritable and messy.
