I was concerned by all the reviews of adhesion issues but after a month of riding the tape became quite tight losing 1-2psi a day. If you have a fat tire rim from Sun Ringle, it has a fabric inner rim that provides no support. The tape has enough tack to keep it in place until you install the bead. The bead is the only thing holding the band. If you ever pull a fat tire off like I did, the tape will slip off and not form a seal that needs to be re-taped. So put it on, make sure the tape covers the bead, and if you ever need to remove the bead from the tire, tear off the old tape and stick on the new one. This is a rim design issue.
