After researching numerous mobile internet solution devices, I settled on this one USB wireless modem. First off, it's not a standalone device, meaning it needs a powered USB port to function. I ordered this device to use with my Google Fi data plan which allows data sharing with extra data only with SIM cards. This device has been set to Telstra and needs to change the APN to your specific carrier. In the Google-Fi network, the APN is changed to h2g2, which allows the modem to connect to the T-Mobile network. I use this device to connect my Android car radio to the internet. The radio connects via Wi-Fi as it is almost impossible to install drivers for this or any other USB tethering on an Android device. While I can power the modem from one of the radio's USB ports, I prefer to use a separate power supply so I don't unnecessarily drain the radio's power. I use the Sirius XM mobile app most of the time on the radio, along with the maps and navigation features. As I travel a lot I look forward to using this modem on my laptop abroad as the GoogleFi data service works at no extra cost in most countries around the world.
