Wrong wiring harness - Cab bed light won't turn off

I used the supplied wiring harness and connector when driving my truck is , bed/reverse lights on this unit do not turn off unless I turn the interior light dimmer to the "off" position. This means I cannot drive unless the dash lights, radio etc are off and this will be a problem at night. When my truck is off they burn for about a minute (as expected) before going out. So I'm going to reinstall using an old Ford wiring harness I kept. GOOD: This third brake light assembly fits well, includes a new gasket and appears to be of good quality for the price. Like the others, I sealed the seams on the top and side of the headlamp with clear caulk and patched the place on the gasket. Then apply clear coat to the screw heads. I lowered the passenger side rear trim to access the connector and the installation took about 15 minutes. Be careful when removing the coat hook (there are videos on how to do this) so as not to damage the plastic tabs that hold it in the metal bracket when you reattach it. SUMMARY: Dorman needs to fix a wiring issue - I have a base model 2007 XLT and this light should not depend on a dimmer switch in the cockpit to work. All the factory wiring and the old light worked great except for the water ingress. I may have received a bad block.

Pros
  • Thoroughly tested - This part has been extensively tested to ensure a secure fit and long life
Cons
  • Not bad but...
