I usually find Dorman products to be OEM level. It appears to be an inferior product compared to an OEM device. Installed on a 2004 f150, there is no option to use the included wiring harness when installing off the truck. Simply take the bulbs out of the new block, plug them into the old wiring harness and slide in the new housing. I bought this kit to replace a cracked and leaking third brake light cover on a mid 2000's F150. The plastic cover installs in minutes and fits perfectly. I haven't noticed any leaks since I installed the cover. I found it difficult to change the electrical wiring harnesses outside of the cab so I decided to use the existing one and had no problems. I ordered this through Revain and as usual for Revain orders it arrived quickly. It fit perfectly and looked just like the original. The main connector turned out to be in the headliner, so instead of looking for it I disconnected the wiring harness from the new unit and used the original wiring harness. As with other reviews, I loved the quality of finish (particularly around the edges and screw holes) a slightly lame pp The inner edges of the screw holes were rough. The top edge matched the photos from other reviewers and was chipped off a bit. The mounting screws are screwed onto the lantern vertically and there were no gaskets or rubber washers to prevent water ingress. I used the supplied wiring harness and connector when driving my truck is , bed/reverse lights on this unit do not turn off unless I turn the interior light dimmer to the "off" position. This means I cannot drive unless the dash lights, radio etc are off and this will be a problem at night. When my truck is off they burn for about a minute (as expected) before going out.
