Review on Protect Your RV, Travel Trailer, 5Th Wheel Or Motorhome With Solera Slide Topper Slide-Out Protection by Tom Beland

Revainrating 5 out of 5

We forgot the other reason to have a slide topper.

Our first travel trailer had a slide topper on one slide out and the awning served the same purpose on the other side. When we bought our new travel trailer I considered adding one to our slide out, but further reading resulted in a 50/50 split on whether is was worthwhile. I know they keep the sun and leaves off the slide, but you still have to get up under them occasionally to make sure there isn't any debris. Our dealer wanted around 800.00 to install one for our 10' slide. On our second trip in the new travel trailer we woke to rain which cancelled our plans for the day, time to break camp and go home. I had the foresight to tilt the trailer and drain most of the water off the slide out, but found myself climbing around inside the camper after it was retracted trying to mop up all the water that didn't drain off. What a pain. Came home and ordered the topper.Installation was easy, as others noted I was two screws short for the track that mounts on the camper but I had some on hand. Just take your time and measure everything. Also, there are TWO spring pins, one on each end. If you take your hand and rotate the roll of material in the right direction you take the tension off the pins making them easier to remove.
