Easier to install than I thought it would be.

When I first wanted to get one of these to protect my slideout I thought it would be really complicated to install. I watched a few youtube vids and had this installed in less than an hour. And that's only because I installed the rail the canopy slides into by myself and had to move the ladder 4 times. With common hand tools you to can install this yourself and save the 1.5 hours @ $150/hour the local camper superstore would charge.

Pros
  • It enhances privacy, by blocking the view of the RV’s inner space from unwanted prying eyes
Cons
  • The product may not be compatible with certain types of RV awnings or accessories

Solo Install, well yes.

I ordered this for our Keystone Bullet. The slide bakes in the heat, so we wanted a cover mainly for that, but also deflecting debris and such. I installed this 100% solo, but I did cheat: I have a scissor lift. This made is much easier for all aspects of the install. The last part was to slide the bead into the channel. I merely laid the awning on top of the scissor lift at the end of the cannel, fed the bead in, then drove the lift toward the track. Getting the hex bars into place was…

Pros
  • DIY INSTALLATION — This assembly comes complete with everything needed for an easy installation — including slide-out topper roll, brackets, hardware, and railing to mount your Slide Topper. You can install the Slide Topper up to 5" above the slide-box trim, giving you added placement flexibility
Cons
  • The Solera Slide Topper can be difficult to clean, which may lead to a buildup of dirt and debris over time

Great product & support

As others mentioned & complained about, the Access Bracket Screw Cover were also missing from my slide out topper. Unlike many others I guess, I contacted Solera customer support on their Solaris web site. I had to only supply proof of Walmart purchase & the missing part number (2021012899) and Angela (excellent support) shipped me both missing pieces with no drama. I will purchase from them again.

Pros
  • STYLISH & ECONOMICAL — This slide awning is a practical, economical was for you to protect your slide-out from costly damage, and its stylish design won’t take away from the aesthetics of your RV
Cons
  • The Solera Slide Topper may require additional storage space when not in use, which can be problematic for some RVers

Nice addition to our camper. Works and looks great!

We are very happy with this awning. It looks great and operates smoothly. Installation was a bit tricky as the owners manual was not real clear. The release pin was not shown and I pulled the wrong ones. YouTube videos help. We're pleased with the result.

Pros
  • RELIABLE PROTECTION — Slide Toppers help prevent dirt, bird droppings, debris and more from falling on your RV’s slide-out — plus, they help water from pooling on top, so you don’t have to worry about damaged seals or mold formation
Cons
  • The product may make it more difficult to travel on narrow or winding roads

We forgot the other reason to have a slide topper.

Our first travel trailer had a slide topper on one slide out and the awning served the same purpose on the other side. When we bought our new travel trailer I considered adding one to our slide out, but further reading resulted in a 50/50 split on whether is was worthwhile. I know they keep the sun and leaves off the slide, but you still have to get up under them occasionally to make sure there isn't any debris. Our dealer wanted around 800.00 to install one for our 10' slide. On our second trip

Pros
  • It comes in a variety of sizes to fit your RV’s dimensions perfectly
Cons
  • The installation process can be complicated and time-consuming for DIY enthusiasts

Would have been nice if the square bit and Allen wrench required to install the fasteners would have been included in the box. Had to stop what I was doing and run to the hardware store. For this amount of money the tools should have came with it. Otherwise it is what I expected.

Pros
  • You can effortlessly clean the material to maintain its longevity
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for RV or motorhome models with restricted height clearance

Fabric Postion: my feedback

The slide topper arrived packaged well in a large cardboard tube. Installation instructions were included in package. We found there were only 16 screws instead of 17 for the rail that that is mounted to side of travel trailer and one of those was shorter than the rest. Not a big problem. After centering and mounting the rail and awning slideout brackets, we saw at the fabric on the roller was rolled toward one end when we went to put it in place. We had not removed the spring clips from the…

Pros
  • Solera Slide Topper offers ultimate protection to your RV against harsh weather conditions
Cons
  • Some customers may feel that the product is an unnecessary expense, especially if they do not frequently use their RV or motorhome

Good product, instructions are not!

We were missing screws and the instructions didn't state there were safety clips that needed to be removed. It caused damage to the brackets that we have to repair. That was disappointing to say the least. Other then that it does seem to be descent quality material.

Pros
  • arrived on time fit perfect easy to install had all needed parts got the 5000
Cons
  • It can be difficult and time-consuming to install, which may deter some consumers from purchasing

Happy Camper on my review.

After a fluke of getting the wrong product the first time I was pleased when my awning arrived and complete. Instructions should be read carefully and probably a few times but with help of a second person the installation was easy.

Pros
  • The product is manufactured with high standard safety measures in mind
Cons
  • The Solera Slide Topper may not be suitable for use in high-altitude locations or mountainous regions
