Assembly required only a willingness to get on all fours for a moment, tuck one end of the included bungee cord into its sheath and then toss the other end, so to speak another sleeve behind the hoop. I caught the elastic cord as close as possible to the other end with a short stick and then simply put it into the sleeve. The tires are new so they are quite sticky so I had to be careful not to tear the coating but it wasn't difficult. Disassembly is even easier - just a few seconds for each tire. It's true that the coatings don't feel very thick, but all they have to do is reflect UV and I'm sure they will. Overall, it's a lot better than letting the tires wear out, which could result in a catastrophic explosion. That's why the tires are new - we had a flat front tire which was about 3 years old and had about 22,000 miles on it. We made it to the tire shop before the tire blew out, but hopefully with these covers we won't have to worry about that pesky possibility again.
