Review on ๐ŸŸก Go Power! GP-175 175-Watt Modified Sine Wave Inverter: Reliable and Efficient Power Solution in Vibrant Yellow by Shawn Xayamonty

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good efficient inverter, short lifespan

Update: After about a year of running 24/7 with an average load of about 30%, two I bought failed miserably. One of the large capacitors inside exploded. I guess they weren't designed for long term use but took a star off anyway as I thought they should have at least lasted longer. First Review: I bought this inverter for my off-grid solar power project. I was looking for an inverter that could control the lights and didn't have a fan so it could stay on all the time without draining the battery system too much when idle (no load). I read several other reviews that said this might be the perfect inverter for my needs. As it turned out, this inverter was perfect for what I needed. I'm really surprised at how little power it uses when idle. If you look at customer pictures you will find two pictures showing how much power it draws at idle and under load with a 60 watt bulb. It therefore only consumes 0.9 W (0.7 A at 13.11 V) when idling! I will mainly be using LED bulbs, but I connected an incandescent bulb to test it under a significant load without having to connect more than 10 bulbs. Usually modified sine wave inverters cause a slight stroboscopic or buzzing at the TV output, but not this one. Another inverter I recently bought from PowerBright's Revain (Power Bright PW2300-12 Power Inverter 2300W 12VDC to 110VAC) doesn't have a very good modified sine wave output, but it was very cheap and worked great with a 1200 watt microwave oven and my fridge . In another review, someone mentioned that when plugging in a laptop power adapter, the error light comes on. I had the same problem but the laptop worked fine as soon as the light went out (after about 3 seconds). I have confirmed that this is due to the high inrush current required when power is first connected. Overall, I highly recommend this inverter. I've only owned it for about a month so I don't know if it will last long, but it was also cheap so replacing it wouldn't be a big deal.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are problems
