Small tank/oversized pillow. Does not heat the hermit crab tank. Useless.

Since 2016 I have purchased a ton of iPower branded products ranging from large built in fans to powerful lamps etc. I have not been disappointed with any of these purchases. So when I was looking for a tank warmer for my sons two hermit crabs, I found this iPower product and bought it immediately. iPower Terrarium 8" x 18" Reptile Heat Mat Under Tank Heater with Digital Thermostat. The packaging and listing states that the 8" x 18" size is for use in a 50-60 gallon tank. We put it in a 10 gallon tank. I bought a very large aquarium for our aquarium because we live in a cold climate and in winter the room temperature can drop to 65 degrees. The more the merrier, and the controller regulates the temperature anyway (I figured it was a heavy-duty hot water bottle so we didn't have to worry about cooking poor germs). The tank is even half filled with sand (at room temperature 68 degrees and the air in the tank cannot be heated above 74 degrees). I attached the liner to the back of the tank with 3M glue applied to the liner and processed the entire rear glass side to side and 2/3 of the way top to bottom. A typical hermit crab setup and we installed the temperature sensor for the thermostat 3 inches from the back wall/heat source. I wanted the sensor to stay below 85 degrees so I set the thermostat to that temperature. Never even got close. It's been over a week, definitely more than enough time to get a chance to work. Tank - where it should be warmest - we have a humidity meter/thermometer and it didn't get warmer than 77 degrees. When I took the attached photos the ambient temperature in the room was 68 degrees, the thermometer read 77 degrees and the sensor reading was at 72 degrees. The sand at the front bottom of the tank, farthest from the heat source, was 68 degrees/room temperature (measured with an infrared thermometer). Doesn't work properly. i will send it back if i can. Just hoping I can pull it off the tank because glue is the only thing that seems to work. I will continue to purchase other iPower items that I have purchased in the past but this item is a piece of junk.
