Review on πŸ”§ Extra-Durable Big-Sert 5015 M10X1.5MM Oversized Metric Thread Repair Kit by Derrick Kadam

Worked great! Cheaper than buying a dedicated BMW kit.

Worked great. We bought this kit to repair the BMW 3.0 m54 block. Some of the old inserts were still in the block so we used them to make a bracket out of a hardwood plank and a brass nipple. Drilled a socket for a brass fitting and jb welded it to the wood, then I used a drill with the larger one from that kit to enlarge the hole in the fitting. From there, simply mark the location of an adjacent screw hole in the head by measuring. For now, don't worry about the angle. You'll also need another hole nearby so you can triangulate it with the fitting and the other hole. When triangulating, you don't need to measure angles. Drill adjacent holes in the wood using a drill bit as close to the diameter of the cap screw as possible. Make sure the bolts can still move in the holes. Very kind of m10x1. 5 nuts. Thread the bolts and nuts through the holes in the existing inserts (you may have to go through them). You should be able to eye line up the hole for the brass fitting and the existing hole in the block. Then tighten the nuts to hold the jig in place. Now you can drill a hole in the block. When drilling into old bits be careful, the bit grabs and pulls your hand pretty well. Make sure you order the long 25.4mm inserts instead of the short ones included in this set.
