The product is not suitable for repairing a previously repaired threaded hole IF the first insert has completely pulled out of the repair hole. The kit includes the same size drill and tap used to install the first insert (using the TimeSert key).

Worked great. We bought this kit to repair the BMW 3.0 m54 block. Some of the old inserts were still in the block so we used them to make a bracket out of a hardwood plank and a brass nipple. Drilled a socket for a brass fitting and jb welded it to the wood, then I used a drill with the larger one from that kit to enlarge the hole in the fitting. I have used a separately purchased big sert insert longer than the one in the kit for extra holding power but whether you use the one in the kit or very long the procedure is that same. Follow the instructions carefully. Read it two or three times, do a dry run or two before actually cutting metal, and you'll have a near-perfect repair. Don't try to cut corners. Use a pilot bushing, sold separately, to properly align the threads when repairing the block while the engine is still in the vehicle.
