This device is actually very difficult to open and close, and the mechanism that "locks" it is weak. After fiddling with the case long enough to open it once, I managed to fit a 2.5-inch SSD in and still couldn't close the lid to my satisfaction. I always felt like it wasn't quite there, and I didn't want to press too hard and risk damaging it. After months of this unit sitting quietly behind my docking station, I was ready to secure the SSD and replace it with one New. I had to fiddle with it MUCH longer the second time around to even open it and was very unhappy to see that the plastic clasp had snapped and won't close. This is not a device that you actively 'use' in the traditional sense. I used it every day or moved around with it. I literally used it once, left it for a few months and when I used it again it broke.
