Review on SandShark Ultimate Large Boat Sand Anchor: Adjustable, Compact Storage, Boat and Pontoon Protection in Shallow Water, Beach, Sandbar (with Case) by Troy Henkhaus

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good attachment point for the flat but not perfect

When it arrived everything looked fine except the handle. The part that slides. One side was badly scratched. Maybe it slipped during delivery? I was disappointed but I think if it can be scratched in transit it will stay the same in use. I have no intention of babysitting or flaunting it. Maybe they should wrap this part in plastic or is it better to secure it for shipping? The anchor holds the boat very well. I used it on a sandbar in a fairly busy canal. The movement of the boats creates many wakes and waves on the shore. I drop the standard anchor a bit and then deploy the Sand Shark on or near the shore. Overall it feels solid and performs well. I'm not afraid that one day I'll bend it. I'm having trouble getting sand in, which isn't surprising, but then I can't get it into a compact form, or at least not that easily. Rinsing doesn't help. I have to tremble or really slide a little looser. Even the spring-loaded pin mechanism gets stuck. The other thing is that even if I take out the bottom and rinse it, the top block gets sealed on top, so it's difficult to just flush the top block with water to remove the sand. If it had been designed with an open top, or even with a large enough opening or holes at the top, it would have been a lot easier to flush. Apparently for something that is used in sand all the time this shouldn't be a problem or there should be ways to solve the problem. In general, the purchase is satisfied. This is a great addition to our boating gear, allowing you to visit the sandbars with peace of mind.
