I have this 55 gallon tank. I was skeptical about buying it as people said it wasn't very strong. I think exactly the opposite, because I would like to do without it a bit. When I first turned it on with my nearly uprooted plants, it took me a while to find the right flow direction and rearrange it a bit. It's been installed for months and it's working great and the reservoir has never been clearer. The fish love it, and the current keeps all the "shit" off the bottom for the filter to suck in. It hasn't lost suction or blows anything around, but we'll see. As for the on/off switch, you can buy an in-line switch at the hardware store for a few dollars. I did this so I can turn it off for feeding otherwise it will ruin your meal.
