Review on Enhanced Motorola 56320 Talkabout Earpiece with Boom Microphone (No Longer Available from Manufacturer) by Ben Rodriguez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good sound quality and comfortable to wear

For the last 6 years I have used these earphones with my Motorola T5420 about 20-30 times a year, about 3-5 hours each time. So far the sound quality has been good both in the speaker and what I spoke through the speaker. The earbud itself was quite comfortable to wear and it's very easy to switch between the left and right sides. After so many years, I discovered earlier this month (April 2011) that the rubber cover on the cable to the right of the 2.5mm plug was simply torn. I mean the rubber sleeve literally cracked due to wear and tear but it still works fine. I'll keep using it to see how many more months I can get out of it. But I will order another one as a backup (and I hope the new one will last as long). This is definitely a good product for TALKABOUT users. NOTE: 1. Motorola has its own standard. So when I talk about 2.5mm plug, it's actually a bit longer than 2.5mm for MP3.2 cordless phones. If your radio is on when you plug it in, almost all radios will automatically switch to VOX mode. This means that everything from your microphone will be transmitted to the channel you choose. So be careful when playing with this, I've heard all sorts of 'private' conversations from my colleagues accidentally connecting to VOX during a break. 3. This is the main radio earphone, so the sound quality is not the same as FM/AM broadcast or a good mobile phone. So here's my advice, when using it (a) pause for a second when you press the TALK button (b) don't talk to others at the same time, no one will understand anything. So I propose rule (a)(c) to be very close to the microphone when speaking. How close? So close that your lips touch the microphone foam. (d) speak clearly and slowly
