I finally managed to get the product working. One of the U-bolts arrived on a threaded side, either damaged or not threaded properly. Poor quality control in this one. I had to roughly screw the included nut onto the bad end of the u-bolt. The nuts attached to the brackets came loose as soon as I touched them with a tool. The 4" mounting hole spacing worked well for what I needed. The brackets, once tightened, held the mast in place really firmly. If I had to do it again, knowing what I know now, I would probably use the clamps returning for a refund. The price does not reflect the quality of the fitment or workmanship. Anyway, I managed it. Let's see how they hold up over the great lakes winter and summer.
