Review on Waveshare Raspberry Compatible Debugging Onboard by Timothy Hughes

Revainrating 4 out of 5

USB hub works but no luck with UART.

Update: After almost giving up on this thing, I unscrewed it from the Pi Zero W and noticed a couple tiny UART RXD TXD switches set to OFF on the board. I figured out what the heck, I'll try turning them on and see what happens. Lo and behold, I get boot messages. I don't recall this being mentioned in the documentation. So what I did to make it work: 1. The UART RXD TXD switch is toggled to ON.2. Attach to Pi Zero W.3. Plug the included USB cable into the mini USB port labeled UART.4. Connect the other end of the USB to Mac.5. Open a terminal and enter the following command: screen /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART 1152006 You should see boot messages scrolling through your terminal. If you don't do this, the download process may already have completed and is waiting for a login. If so, try entering your credentials and see if it logs in. Still 3 stars because of missing documentation and missing screws.-TN=============================== === === ============ The USB hub is working properly. Mine didn't have enough screws to securely attach it to the Pi Zero W, so it felt a bit flimsy. I've also been trying to connect the UART to OSX Catalina for a couple of weeks with no success. This was a major factor for me in purchasing this model, so I was disappointed. In the end I gave up and bought a separate UART cable.
