Excellent except for one fatal flaw in build quality!

Since I'm on the road almost 100%, I bought it to get more screen real estate. Gaming wasn't a priority, but spoiled by desktop gaming screens, I wanted the same performance and quality. I received the screen and found the overall design to be great; I have to say that the packaging and the accessories that come with it really set a good tone. The screen is plastic, but still solidly assembled. The kickstand felt great and was definitely versatile. The bag was striking in gray with a slight hint of blue (?) to contrast with the neon background. The tripod felt like a tank. However, I've found that the image quality seems to be worse than my Asus ROG laptop; My laptop has a QHD resolution and higher refresh rate, which also worked in its favor but was expected. What bothered me the most about the quality is that despite the calibration paper that came with it, I found the screen to be a lot bluer and darker than the laptop, even after playing around with all the settings. However, if he weren't sitting next to my laptop and looking at it alone, the image on the screen would be excellent and crisp. The movement is clear with no blur. All in all, this is an amazing wearable screen and overall impressive. However, there is one big, fatal flaw that caused me to return the monitor on the second day. Many have reported that the connection of the display with the optional tripod is weak. It showed up right away for me. I installed the connector on the screen and immediately noticed that although the connector was metal, the screw hole in the screen was plastic and was painted to look like metal. After installing the connector and installing the screen on a tripod, I immediately noticed that the screen wobbled along the axis of rotation of the screw. Whenever I moved the laptop it was plugged into, the cable connection would cause the screen to tilt no matter how carefully I moved. I attempted to lightly tighten the connecting screw using a tiny screwdriver and finger strength and immediately felt how clean the plastic screw hole was. After that, the screen floated steadily in a clockwise rotation of about 4 or 5 degrees. It was distracting and frustrating. Given the relatively high price of this screen, having such an important connecting plastic on one end was a bad design decision. I can't justify paying that much for this screen when the feature I love - the ability to mount it on a tripod to raise it higher to save my poor neck - is a complete failure. Should Asus replace the junction point with a more durable material in the future, I would reconsider this monitor as it definitely meets many other needs. Unfortunately, you're probably saving a few bucks or you're ruining a great product. (ps just want to add that i'm disappointed that all the "professional" ezines and reviewers are silent on this topic; this is the first time i've seen complaints about this joint in revain/retail reviews but i haven't seen a professional reviewer, who dares to point out)

Pros
  • 16:9 aspect ratio; The viewing angle (CR ≥ 10) is 178°/178°; Brightness (typ.) 300 cd/m²
Cons
  • Static Noise: If the monitor signal is not strong enough, static noise may appear on the display.
