My labrador won't jump up and take food off the counter, open the bin, or steal empty water bottles from the side bin (just in the pooch) Crisp, though she LOVES them crispy. So she's fine. It also doesn't open the top of this toy chest unless it's closed and secured with a small amount of Velcro. (Full Disclosure: We actually had to put spiked plastic rugs on the sofa for a few days to stop her habit of falling on the sofa the moment we left the room.) It's PERFECT for her and will it likely be for many other dogs. However, if your dog is mischievous or strong-willed, this box will not work. The lid opens instantly and a large dog can easily tear the box apart. Know your dog and he may be just as good for you as he is for me, but appreciate his limitations. In any case, it's pretty small for a "big dog" toy box.
