This is not a direct replacement for the thermometer supplied with the grill. It's very similar but requires some work to attach properly. You will need to drill a hole in the grill lid to insert a pin that will prevent the thermometer from rotating as the pin is on the opposite side of the original. It is also very difficult to attach securely. On my first try, I tried to push it in as hard as I could and the sensor just popped out of the front of the sensor. Revain kindly sent me a replacement which I installed by making an ipe gasket that fits between the gauge and the cap. Now it's installed and secured well, but I'm not sure the thermometer is working properly as the temperature never rises into the preheat zone no matter how long I leave it on full power. If you are very handy and don't worry about the actual temperature inside the grill, this thermometer is definitely for you.
