That's why I always covered our air conditioner with a piece of plywood (top) and left the sides open for the winter. One of my friends ordered this and talked about it, sent me the link so I ordered that too. I installed it the other day and wanted to come back and say I was impressed with the thickness of the material and the very good fit. I wasn't sure it would fit well enough as our air conditioner was exactly the same size as the case, but it certainly fit perfectly. I love that "vents" are built in to allow moisture to escape and hopefully the air conditioner will breathe in the winter so the moisture doesn't settle and doesn't corrode or damage anything. The laces on the bottom feel a bit useless since I tightened them, but you can still remove the lid from the top with little effort. To prevent drama in the winter, I'm going to put a brick on the lid. All in all, the cover is a smart idea.
