So bought earlier and it was obviously a crappy novelty that wouldn't hold a charge and would charge bloody slow. I was expecting something similar, and since the other one would be dead in about a day on a full charge, I expected this to do the same. Got this one and I drained it until it died with the flashlight, then I turned off the crank and after a few cranks you could already hear the radio. The other one I bought was so bad I wasn't expecting it at all, you had to crank up a ton and barely got a minute of radio. It has minimal cranking to make it an effective radio. As for keeping the battery, I just took them out of my purse after sitting in a closet for 15 months (with no light so didn't charge from the solar panel). I thought he was dead without a doubt but amazingly the lights and radio were still working fine and the low battery indicator wasn't even on. Not only that, it still charges my phone using the included cables as well as a separate 5 volt 0.3 amp lightning cable, which isn't very fast, but it will turn your phone back on in an emergency. The only thing I don't like is that the radio charges via a mini USB cable instead of a micro USB cable and mini USB cables are rare these days. Apart from that a reliable radio, a great emergency or camping light. Great for the glove box.
