I knew I was in for trouble when I removed the cylinder heads from my '98 CHEVY SUB K1500. The old/stock exhaust manifold did not separate easily from the heads. I had to use a crowbar and a hammer to get them off the truck. I noticed that the old collector was deformed, that's why it was impossible to install normal collectors, so these are new collectors! It was an easy landing. The only reason I give them a lower rating is because there is weld spatter everywhere, some parts need sanding and touching up. The paint on the collectors is stable after a period of "baking" during truck operation. I don't remember the baking time mentioned in the instructions. I treated them like a freshly painted set of titles. Following the directions in the VHT headline paint can, I let the car warm up for 10 minutes and then cool it down for about an hour. 20 minutes warm up and 1 hour cool down. Drive for 30 minutes and cool again, after which the smell of new paint was very faint and persistent.
