This cage is NOT SUITABLE for smart, mean or aggressive dogs! We were looking for a cheaper alternative to the AMAZING (but expensive) Grain Valley aluminum dog crates that we have. It wasn't. The SMONTER box has 2 main problems. (1) While rods are heavy duty, locks are not. A smart dog can SIMPLY manipulate these tiny cheap aluminum padlocks. It's enough for them to stretch out their paw and they can quickly knock the lock out of position and open the door. We have five dogs and our smartest dog was able to pick this lock in less than a minute. (2) The bars of this box are spaced about 2 inches apart. Our aggressive dogs could stick their snouts in and out of the bars and they started fighting their way through the crate! Luckily I saved the box. I packed this dog crate and UPS picked it up the next day. Even if you have a smart dog to keep, treat yourself to the Grain Valley aluminum crate, the only crate I've ever had that's truly perfect for our dogs.
