Sticks are hollow and chewable

Box looks very sturdy. My dog has severe separation anxiety. She ran away from other kennels and after her escape was destructive in the house. I just received this kennel today and she was in it for less than 2 hours while I went to the gym. She's bent/chewed quite a few rods and I don't think her strength will take it. She is a 45 lb mix breed (maybe a pit bull mix), she is not tall but very alert. She hasn't figured out the lockdown system (yet). I agree with another buyer's review, it's…

  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Failed to store my lab in

As previously mentioned, this dog crate is not lab friendly and not as strong as advertised. My dog actually cut off a piece of gum while chewing on the Smonter label. It also almost came off the side and hit it so hard it bent the side panel and loosened the screws. *** Update 6/11/18 ZERO stars! The company sent me a new and "stronger" cage to replace the broken one. That didn't work either. My dog actually broke the wire at the weld and bent the top of the cage to free himself. They promised

very strong kennel friendly

I was hesitant at first because my 2 year old German Shepherd chewed it whole out of its last cage (airline approved, expensive thing). He doesn't come out and even stopped trying and bit off his first piece of strong metal. The only potential downside is that the bottom of the box has holes in it, which bothered my dog at first (kind of like a cattle keeper effect), but he's gotten used to it and is fine now. Overall, I recommend this to anyone with an escape artist. Also in reference to…

I have a 5 month old Great Dane and had to look after her when we went to work. It is very well made and looks beautiful. The problem was that there were no bolts in my package to attach the screws. and so I had to go to Home Depot to get them because we needed them ASAP. To make matters worse, the screws are listed in metric units, so we needed help finding the correct screws. It's annoying that people don't pay attention when putting the package together, but other than that we've made good…

Sturdy but by no means indestructible

So my 40 pound pooch has separation anxiety so after chewing my way through a decent wire box and a homemade wooden crate I decided it was time to upgrade to a heavier stand -upgrade by option. The box arrived with loose screws on the frame edges, requiring a set of sockets and a wobble link extension to tighten to keep the sides from dangling. Not too much of a problem, but still a pain in the butt. The biggest problem, however, is that the square steel bars of the hollow frame are actually…

Not suitable for intelligent or aggressive dogs.

This cage is NOT SUITABLE for smart, mean or aggressive dogs! We were looking for a cheaper alternative to the AMAZING (but expensive) Grain Valley aluminum dog crates that we have. It wasn't. The SMONTER box has 2 main problems. (1) While rods are heavy duty, locks are not. A smart dog can SIMPLY manipulate these tiny cheap aluminum padlocks. It's enough for them to stretch out their paw and they can quickly knock the lock out of position and open the door. We have five dogs and our smartest…

Best spend money in boxes and nurseries

My first "lion cage" I bought the Empire Select kennel and was looking for a cheaper version. This rig is made from the same quality material as my $900 kennel but at a much cheaper price. I use two of these on my German Shorthaired Pointer and one on my Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff) and would highly recommend them for large dogs. A lock is the difference between a more expensive kennel and a sly dog that is able to take its tongue and pull a lever, but in this case just a zip/Caribbean. I had…

Suitable for dogs with severe anxiety

The dog we adopted from the shelter came in a bit scared, her previous owners kept her in a kennel for over 12 hours a day so understandably she didn't like being there boxes, but we were willing to work with her. The first kennel we gave her was cheap and she quickly learned to run away. We bought this kennel hoping it would be better maintained and it has worked! It took a lot of time and patience, but now she is leaving voluntarily. However, there are a few things to consider. First…
