Review on Gouache Carrying Students Watercolor Painting Painting, Drawing & Art Supplies by Juana Sadler

Ok color, stinks!

After watching tons of YouTube videos of artists who bought and admired this set, I decided to try it myself. The paints themselves aren't bad, probably a great set for those wanting to try gouache for the first time. They seem to take a really long time to dry (imo) and rise without much effort making them very difficult to layer. My biggest complaint about them is that they smell. I don't know if I have a bad set or if there's something I'm sensitive to, but I was a bit surprised to see no one else mentioned it. Some colors are worse than others, Prussian Blue being the worst of them all. The first night I received them, I opened all the cups and took a sample (all I had time for) and I noticed a little smell. one piece. However, when I tried to paint with it the next evening, I noticed an odor almost immediately upon opening the container, which lingered throughout my painting session until I could not bear it anymore. I figured if I kept this case open long enough it would just sort itself out eventually. The smell immediately makes me cough, and the longer I drew I noticed my nose started to itch and eventually I started sneezing and gave up. The odor is very unpleasant, an odor that immediately makes me think, 'This isn't what I'm supposed to be inhaling. I feel like I'm killing brain cells." Again, maybe I'm just unlucky and having a weird reaction to these colors. My main goal in writing is to just share in case others are sensitive or have experienced the same thing.
