Review on Marineland Precision Heater: Optimal Temperature Control for Saltwater or Freshwater Aquariums by Eric Castillo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

If you cook fish, it's your own fault, you bought an oven that was too big!

(Updated 8/5/2022. Still works.) Great little heater, works well. No problem with overheating, keeps temperature within 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Set at 76, actual temp 74.6, not too bad. . Using a heater to preheat 20 gallons of reverse osmosis houseplant water from a 50 degree Celsius source. I turned off the RAISE, a "SNAP DISC thermal switch" that cuts power to the heater at 80f, just cheap protection. I don't know why you fishermen don't use a temperature controller or temperature switch in front of the heater for protection! Buy an additional regulator. Set the regulator to cut off 2-4 degrees above optimum. For safety! Come on people. That's about $30 for an optional digital controller >> "Rainbird Submersible Controller" or $9 for "NC Snap Disk, Open on Rise, Thermal Switch" and some connectors. You can risk $$$ and your fish's life/aquarium/solution by just using a cheap heater, or sleep peacefully and worry-free by opting for a second controller!
