I don't know why the arrow keys had to be covered, but okay. The problem was that no matter how I moved the lid, one of the volume controls stayed pressed. I had to cut out this area of the lid to reveal the controls for the remote to work. It's actually better that way because I no longer accidentally press those buttons when picking it up. I would call all of this a kludge, but at least it's easier for me to find my remote now. So tired all the remote controls in the world are black.
