My last grill brush lasted about 3 years and it was a regular wire brush. I didn't think about it much, but now there are practically no bristles. Where are they? They definitely don't evaporate. The only thing I really thought about was big bristles getting into my food and causing internal damage. In fact, these pieces of metal are more likely to fall to the bottom of the grill and rise when heated. Since this brush has cleaning coils I think once one of them is gone it will be practically useless unless you use the scraper side. So far usage has been as expected. I usually turn on the grill and let it heat up to 600-700 and then clean it. I close it to allow the heat to recover before frying what I'm cooking. Some clean up after cooking, some before. I don't think there is a right or wrong way.
