Works great, no problems staying at zero, no problems with accuracy

I track my calories very carefully on a daily basis. Everything that goes into my body that contains calories goes into an Excel spreadsheet that summarizes everything, records and displays the calories ingested based on weight and estimated daily total calorie expenditure from day to day over time. Before I got this scale, the problem annoyed me was how crude some of the numbers I entered were. It probably didn't matter much as long as the errors were at least more or less constant over time, but it was always a pain and felt like it partially defeated the purpose of, say, grabbing a banana and then deciding whether it is worth it, whether to do it. it belonged in the category small, medium or large. I also noticed that for some products, the serving size on the label didn't even come close to matching the weight. I have no idea how Kellogg's measures cups but I've always noticed that the number of cups per pack they state is far from true and I can now confirm after using this scale that the grams they state per cup are not even approximate. for every cup I've ever poured into a measuring cup. I eat cereal fairly regularly so calories/protein/carbs can be down about 50% in each bowl so this scale really helps with accuracy and I'm sure it does for many other foods as well. Now that I have this scale it's a lot easier to track calories and I'm more confident it's a lot more accurate too. Throw a banana on the scale, get the grams, put the grams in my spreadsheet. Place the bowl on the scale, press the reset button to reset the scale, add the cereal and count the grams. You can even weigh liquid milk so I don't have to use a coffee measuring cup anymore. Simply place the cup on the scale, set for ounces of milk, pour in the milk and read the number. I didn't have the issues some other reviewers had with the scale not staying at zero. When I turn it on, it's always at zero. If I put a bowl on it and press "tare" it always resets to zero as expected. There weren't any plastic tabs on the device that needed to be removed anywhere before use, which some reviewers noted as a problem for them. I don't know if they updated the model or what but the one I got was almost ready to unbox, just had to pull the plastic protective strip out of the battery compartment which took two seconds.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • old
