I almost went and bought everything TimeWarner had on their website that was "suitable" or "recommended" for their service, which cost about $70-$120 , which I found very uncomfortable. So I spent quite a bit of time researching what I have and what I really need, that's all! This is exactly what I wanted for the average user (I consider myself a power user who sits at the computer a lot). After some research, all I needed was a carefully used modem that works for a Time Warner Cable (TWCrook) customer in NYC. So I ordered this used and figured $9.95 with free shipping what I have to lose is only $10! Today I received the modem, set it up, called Time Warner and activated it with a MAC (Media Access Control) number and that's it, wow la, it works! NO PROBLEM! and they charged me $5.99 per month. I was tricked into paying $2.99 for 12 months to rent their modem and then they increased the price to $5.99 per month for a high bandwidth modem that I don't need. I currently pay 20 Mbps on a good day for a "Turbo" service that has an average download speed of 18 Mbps. All I need is a 20-50Mbps modem. That's him. For $10 I get a modem, power adapter and even a good length ethernet cable! I only gave 4 stars because I haven't used this modem for long. Hopefully this modem doesn't die. me the first week. I'll keep you posted if anything happens! So get yourself a cheap modem and don't let TimeWarnerCrooks fool you!
