Now I'm a Zen Knife Sharpener!

Wow I love this whetstone set, just did a bit of research online and now all my homemade knives cut paper like the experts. So feature-wise, this set is up to par and has everything you need to get a razor-sharp ninja blade that can cut through paper. The only thing you need to bring is some patience. as it can take up to 20-30 minutes per knife if you really want the perfect blade. WHAT YOU GET - You will receive a set of two reversible bricks with a rubber bumper/frame. Coarse grit: 120 grit (extra coarse) and 320 grit (medium coarse) and then fine stone: 1000 grit (primary stone for sharpening/polishing kitchen knives) and then 4000 grit ultra fine side for final sharpening. Take a wooden frame/holder with a rubber base to hold the stone. I've hardly used it as I'm going to explain a little HOW TO SHARPEN KNIVES PROPERLY - After much trial, error and research I finally found the right way to use these stones - First thing that's obvious is turning (wet) - the stone must be soaked in a water bath for 15-20 minutes. - Then use a coarse 120 grit stone to level the 1000 and 4000 grit surfaces by rubbing them together. This is important as it smoothes out small imperfections and imperfections on the main whetstone you will be using. Then use a 120 grit stone again to round/smooth the edges of the 1000/4000 stone, again this will take a long time. To get a good edge I pretty much used 120/320 grit stones. for leveling a 1000/4000 stone and I used a 1000 stone as a base stone for sharpening kitchen knives. The stone with 1000 grit is ideal for sharpening, although it takes a little longer, it is gentler and gives a better result in the end. As sharp as I am, I hold the blade of the knife at about a 15 degree angle and pull the knife across the rock toward me with pressure. I release some pressure on the shock stroke and repeat this process section by section. 10 minutes for each edge. When you're done with the 1000 grit stone, use the 4000 grit to give the entire blade the finishing touch. DON'T LIKE on either side - I didn't really like the wooden coaster that came with it and the main reason is that despite the rubber base it kept aquaplaning and sliding over my kitchen coaster when all the water drained off the stone. In the end I just stopped using it. and the included rubber bumpers provide much better traction on a wet pad/surface. FINAL THOUGHTS Overall, this is a great set of knife sharpeners that will produce amazing results with a little practice and will soon become an art form and hobby! You would be looking for knives as the whole process seems so organic and complicated and the results are worth the effort!
