Review on BLACK+DECKER Socket Set, 40-Piece: Professional Quality Tools for Versatile Applications by Quintin Gore

Four Simple Reasons to Buy

Everyone needs a quality socket set. On our land, with all our projects (be it car, maintenance or home improvement), we have several for different needs. So far I am happy with this set. There are many different reasons to love this set, but here are four that stand out. 1. It has an arc twist of five degrees. That means you can use it in tight spaces. I had to replace the variable valve timing solenoid which has the most annoying 10mm bolt location. There was an extension but it wouldn't even be necessary as you don't need a lot of room to move to get the ratchet to work.2. Will not snap onto stubborn bolts. You will learn early on to buy cheap and non-genuine socket sets. There are frozen bolts I don't want to test this on, but so far they seem solid.3. Nothing falls out of the case. Few things wear out my gear worse than opening the case and there are loose and falling drive bushings. Better than picking out outlets with something than taking a deep breath and plugging them in place one by one.4. Competitive price. Not as expensive as Sunex. But not so cheap that you'd expect it to be as bad as those nameless cheap socket sets you see at O'Reilly or Autozone. Not to mention that it's Black + Decker. The name everyone knows. It's the name everyone trusts when it comes to power tools (battery packs for cordless power tools, not so much). While you mostly associate Black+Decker with power tools, I've slowly become a fan of some of the basic mechanical tools they make for auto repair. So give this set a try and see if it works for you as well as it has worked for me so far.
