Great as long as you don't move it.

This is a really good option if like me you have multiple Magsafe power supplies. I've had so many MacBook Pros over the years that I've amassed a large collection of power adapters and got used to leaving power adapters where I might need them. I keep one in my backpack, one in my home office, one in my living room, one in my studio and one in my DJ gig bag. So if I took my work computer home to work remotely, I would just turn it off and leave it on at the office and throw the laptop in my bag to take it home. Now my work computer is a newer MacBook Pro with a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) power adapter. I don't want to crawl under my desk to unplug the power adapter and coil up the cord every time I bring my work computer home. Type: this thing. I can leave it on my desk in my home office and plug it into a magsafe adapter that lives there when I want to use my work laptop at home. It's a bit tricky to establish (and maintain) a reliable connection on the Magsafe side. I think they intentionally made the fit a bit looser to make it work with both the Magsafe and Magsafe 2, so it really relies on a magnet to maintain the connection and not the shape of the recessed connection point. The end result is that from time to time I use my computer and get a low battery notification when I thought it was plugged in and should be 100% charged. This is relatively easy to fix; I can easily rearrange it, sometimes flipping it and looking for the power icon to know when it's actually charging, but it's still a bit fiddly. All in all, this is an affordable solution if you: 1. Already have a magsafe2 power supply. I don't like crawling under my desk to unpack and pack the power adapter every time you want to take the MBP3 with you. I don't want to pay 90€ for a second Apple power supply. It's not perfect, but it saved me about $72 and helps.
