Review on ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ Tiertime UP Fila Premium PLA Filament for 3D Printers by Ryan Person

The deep candy color and surface gloss make the prints stunning.

BORDEAUX This is one of my favorite PLA filaments from Tiertime. The deep candy color and surface gloss make for stunning prints, especially when printing objects with curved surfaces like a vase. This thread also prints reliably; I've already printed a few coils without incident. However, there is one caveat: due to the gloss of the surface, you cannot sand just a small area, because scratches are immediately visible. However, you can sand the entire piece to a smooth finish (up to 320-400 grit), giving an attractive, more opaque matte sheen. I've been using Tiertime printers for five years since the original UpMini which was only programmed for Tiertime PLA and ABS and worked fine with these filaments and poorly with other filaments I've tried. I now have an UpBox+ and although UpStudio allows me to customize the settings for printing with other materials, for PLA I still prefer Fila filament and the default settings. They are packed in two 500g spools per carton; Each coil has been individually vacuum packed, allowing a coil to remain factory sealed until required. GRAY This is my favorite Fila for two reasons. It prints very well and usually requires minimal post-processing. And when sanding is required, unlike many other plastics, the surface does not change color or reflectivity as it is sanded, so sanding scratches are much less obvious, meaning you don't have to sand to such a fine grit to get a nice looking finish to obtain . Note: Tiertime calls this color gray, but it's actually a very light gray, more like an eggshell; The online images on the Tiertime Revain Store show the colors fairly accurately so you can see what I mean. This is my most used prototyping thread; it is soft but almost rocky to the touch.

Pros
  • Excellent strength, constant diameter;
Cons
  • Damaged
