I have 2 drives in my computer, C drive for SSD OS. and D for data Seagate 2TB Barracuda compute and desktop drives use Single Sided Magnetic Recording (SMR) technology, which can have slow data write speeds. But the Seagate documentation doesn't state this. Copying 1.1TB to this drive took 9 hours! I then put my old drive back in and the same copier took 2.5 hours to copy the same 1.1TB. All I can say is do your homework, I will never buy a Shingled magnetic hard drive again! Here is the list I found for the Seagate SMR. hard drives. Barracuda 2TB - 7200RPM - SATA 6GB - Model Name - ST2000DM008 Barracuda 4TB - 5400RPM - SATA 6GB - ST4000DM004 Barracuda 8TB - 5400RPM - SATA 6GB - ST8000DM004 Hard Drive Desktop 5TB - 5900 RPM - SATA 6GB - rTB SATA 6GB - ST5000 ATA8 0 6GB - ST8000AS0003 Archive v2 6TB - 5900RPM - SATA 6GB - ST6000AS0002 Archive v2 8TB - 5900RPM - SATA 6GB β ST8000AS0002
