I have 2 sets of quick disconnect tools but none of them were deep enough to operate the quick couplers on my truck. I have a set of very shallow ones and another set of deeper ones. This was the deepest of them all. That made the work a lot easier. I still had a hard time reaching behind the quick coupler and pulling out the hose, but this tool is essential even if you have quick coupler tools. I had to twist the tool back and forth a bit after inserting it to make sure the quick release was fully disengaged. I would recommend doing this before damaging anything. I had to fix a 2004 Silverado so it was a real hassle to disconnect the old hoses but just make sure the connector is fully disconnected before tightening.
