Review on ๐Ÿ  HITOP 4W Aquarium Air Pump - 2-outlet 110GPH Aerator, Adjustable Fish Tank Air Pump with Accessories - Ideal for 20-200 Gallon Tanks by Keri Diaz

MAN, that thing is quiet!

I originally bought this pump to replace two 10 gallon tetra air pumps with sponge filters in a 10 gallon and a 3 gallon tank. I also have a 5 gallon tank with an active sponge filter and a passive sponge filter (it just sits there to seed with good bacteria just by being in the tank). This tank also runs a 10-gallon Tetra air pump and is pretty noisy. So I decided to experiment and see how loud this 4w Hitop air pump (Tetras 2.5w) would be if both foam filters were running simultaneously in a 5 gallon tank. Calm! It works with both filters and is quieter than Tetra with 1 filter (it has only one output). Now that I've tried it I will definitely be buying another one for the 10 gallon and 3 gallon tanks as I originally planned. This thing is a winner. I like the ability to regulate airflow right at the pump itself, eliminating the need for control valves in the lines. (Although I do have bleed valves on each line to fine tune the flow to my betta tanks as bettas are very sensitive to air pump life from turbulence. You just use a 3 way connector and send a hose to the filter and the other hose with a spool valve on the bottom you decrease flow by opening the spool valve and increase flow by tightening the spool valve - the opposite of what you would do with a traditional spool valve installation 3 pin connector, not the wire coming directly from the pump as it comes after the 3 pin connector.) I also like the fact that it has a dedicated on/off switch. This air pump is definitely bigger than a 10-gallon Tetra, but not that much bigger. I can't comment on the durability of this air pump, but the out of the box functionality is a definite win!
