The detection on this device is accurate to +/- 30% under ideal conditions, so don't be fooled into thinking you'll ever get accurate readings. (It's not that this device isn't particularly inaccurate compared to others, it's just that carbon monoxide is detected in such devices.) You should be aware that even 30ppm can be harmful to children/elderly seem, but there's a reason this device isn't as sensitive. This device is UL certified. UL listed devices will not bark below 30ppm due to sensitivity/false alarm standards. This means it is not overly sensitive and is only beneficial for healthy adults. 2) Competition: There is really only one other possibility. First Alert, same price, same features: First Alert CO410 Battery Operated Carbon Monoxide Detector with Digital Display. At the moment (early 2012) it is poorly reviewed and not a valid choice due to quality/bugs. If you are looking for these features, choose Kidde without competition. The Nighthawk line also has a solid reputation and good customer reviews. (Don't rule out First Alert for smoke alarms though. They have some good models.) 3) You actually get a "KN-COPP-B-LP" model, not a "KN-COPP-B-LS" . Model. This is because LP (Long Life) has replaced LS (no longer in production). Some reviews complain of minor differences and I noticed that the Amazon page still has references to the LS model in the Product Description and Product Specification sections. 4) Mounting: I saw a review that said it should be mounted low. That is not right. The manual recommends "eye level" as the best option and countertops as an option. Carbon monoxide/CO is slightly lighter than air, but mixes well. so high = good. If you want to know more, both the data sheet and the user manual are available on the Kidde website. once. There's no such feature here, and if you're looking for wireless connectivity, you'll always have to buy the same brand/model/series of alarm clocks. So keep that in mind. Unless you have a far away room/basement that you can't hear the screeching from, you probably don't want them plugged in as that will prevent you from diagnosing the location of the problem and what to do (e.g. fire alarm is working at a specific location). the space allows you to run back and forth to this location without slowing down to check every doorknob, not all at once and not knowing which direction to run after suddenly at 2am woke up.) 7) LCD monitor: I want it . Do you want that. But admit to yourself that it's actually only nice when you're sure that everything is working properly. From a practical point of view, this is nothing more than a trick. Again, you're talking about plus or minus 30% accuracy (e.g. 100 PPM could be 70 PPM or 130 PPM). These are alarms, not monitors. Pretty much all you can/should rely on in a squad like this is an alert when there are undeniably fatal circumstances, not chronic unhealthy levels or the like.
