Advertised model - copp-B-LS is backlit. I received copp-B-LP without backlight. Shame on you. Too much work for a return. Saved.

I use this to measure carbon monoxide levels in my car. I accidentally left it in the engine bay for a week (don't ask me how) and after finding it there it seemed to work fine! Now I leave it in the cabin and while it reads 0. When I place it next to the exhaust pipe it also seems to correctly indicate a high amount of CO.

My device recently expired - continuous beeping and END on display. I had it for 7 years. I checked the date of manufacture - 2006! Obviously the end of life date can vary but I bought it 7 years from the date of manufacture! Ethical sellers should not do this. Please check your details and send it back if it is old. However, I'm assuming the unit has been doing its job since we've been alive.

As an installer I can attest that Kidde saves me time because they get all the little things right with mounting hardware etc. The PPM reading is important to me because if an alarm ever works, that's the first thing to do. What I'm going to do is read the display. I will then open a door or window and see if the display changes accordingly. This is my second one that I have used around the house. The first took 3-4 years before the ad broke. In any case, they should be changed every few years. People have complained about other models that Revain have shipped with devices that had a very old manufacture date and the device was about to expire. This has been on the shelf for 6 months. This unit was very easy to assemble however no screws were included, not sure if that's ok. An alarm clock will sound loud enough to wake you up if placed in the hallway outside the bedroom. I would like these items to show all values (even below 30ppm) however no UL rated detector will have this feature as it is part of the UL specification that they must show 0 as long as the value does not exceed 30. The detection on this device is accurate to +/- 30% under ideal conditions, so don't be fooled into thinking you'll ever get accurate readings. (It's not that this device isn't particularly inaccurate compared to others, it's just that carbon monoxide is detected in such devices.)
