Easy to assemble, seems to work

This unit was very easy to assemble however no screws were included, not sure if that's ok. An alarm clock will sound loud enough to wake you up if placed in the hallway outside the bedroom. I would like these items to show all values (even below 30ppm) however no UL rated detector will have this feature as it is part of the UL specification that they must show 0 as long as the value does not exceed 30. You can still see what it found under 30 by pressing the button to see the highest recorded level. I needed one, now I have one and I can sleep at night knowing that this thing will let me know when something is wrong. === Update 4/15/12=== I now have the second of these detectors that I have placed on the ground floor of my house. I'm still happy with this detector, but I'd like to confirm what others have posted in this thread that you're getting some fairly 'random' readings from this device for the 'highest level recorded'. It seems that this number changes every time. They run the test, so my block at the top shows 16 and the block at the bottom shows 20. When I run the test on those devices, they read something different. I don't think these are true readings and I'm not sure how this number is generated as I think it may be left over from the test sequence as the test makes the circuits in the device believe what they see . levels during the test? According to the UL specification they are built to, they should not read anything until 30ppm is detected, manufacturers. also states that they are NOT calibrated or designed to read less than 30ppm. So I wish they hadn't generated this apparent random number, but I just ignore them and trust them to work correctly. === Update June 5, 2012 === I did some jobs where I started my car in the garage (with the door open). I decided to see how one of my blocks would react to the situation and placed it near the back of the car. This thing started collecting and displaying CO readings pretty quickly and turned them off when I pushed it towards the open door. I was pleased with the results of my little test.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Almost never
