Review on πŸ‘ž Simpson Racing 28800BL Hightop Blue Size 8 SFI Approved Driving Shoes: Lightweight & High Performance Footwear by Napoleon Robbie

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not as soft as expected

I might need to break them in a bit more but I was expecting the soles to be a bit thinner for better pedal feel. For the price they are very good and comfortable enough for my purposes. Another small surprise was that the sole material (especially on the heel) was harder than I expected which caused the heel to slip. a little on the mat around my pedals. It's a street car so not bare aluminum but a plastic/rubber backed safety mat, but none of my other shoes have slipped before. It's not a major problem and on track it can be handy to quickly switch from gas to brake when I'm not just jerky but still a little surprised. The quality feels premium, the laces are grippy and don't loosen, and the Velcro straps allow for varying pressure at the top of the ankle. In 2 weeks I will go to the track with them and find out more. **Update** After a great morning at Sonoma Raceway, I can say that slippery conditions weren't an issue; They were comfortable during over 120 miles of freeway driving in temperatures ranging from 70-85F. The specification does not mention the SFI rating (3/3.5 on [.]). Very good for the occasional day at the track or anytime you need good pedal feel for spirited riding. Simpson have been making protective gear for racing for decades and I am happy with my purchase. Keep my helmet liner clean and add some protection where the helmet (Arai GP5 with Nomex strap) exposes me. I already had Alpine Star Tech 1 gloves; next racing suit.
