FINALLY an external optical CD/DVD drive that works with a 2017 iMac! I have returned other USB 3.0 drawer recorders to Revain with great disappointment because despite some rave reviews they just didn't work and were of questionable quality. BUT WITH THIS ENGINE IT IS NOT SO! I've been waiting to write this review because my new iMac had a faulty Thunderbolt port and I wasn't able to properly test the drive (although I assume I used it with the included USB-C to USB 3.0 adapter could do, but that wasn't the point ). So I made both a CD and DVD from the materials in my library, played them and it works like a charm. I received two in different orders, one to try it out to make sure it worked and the other when I was sure it was a winner. We have two new 2017 iMacs, one for me and one for my wife, and we each have one of these drives now. When I brought my iMac in for repair along with the repaired Thunderbolt port test drive, the technician couldn't believe it wasn't a genuine Apple drive. I hope these drives continue to work and don't die in a month or so, but based on the quality of the drives I believe they will survive. A bonus gift in the form of a 14-in-1 multi-tool was the icing on the ice cream cake. High quality and high appreciation. I don't know if it's still offered.
