Doesn't work with USB flash memory and micro USB connector

I tried to use this adapter to connect a USB flash drive to Android mobile phones (Moto G5 and Galaxy S7 Edge). A flash drive is connected on one side and a USB-micro-USB cable on the other. Both phones did not recognize the connection. This plug is unusable for me, I sent it back.
