We haven't had any luck with suction cup smartphone mounts. They drop when the outside temperature changes. This gadget is designed to be installed in the car's cup holder, allowing hands-free use of the GPS on your smartphone. The design is good. The base that fits into the cup holder has a handle that when rotated allows the base to expand for a snug fit. The gooseneck is high enough to hold the phone at a good viewing height. The phone mount can be adjusted to fit almost any phone size. We found it useful, but the base that fits in the cup holder loosens up after a couple of rides. It's easy to set up, but annoying. I would advise the manufacturer to apply the texture to the plastic base. The smooth base gradually comes off.
