Great Product, Questionable Quality

I bought the medium size cash box with the lock code, color: pink (obviously).Shipping was fast, I got it next day.I was concerned receiving it packed in a padded mailer compared to a box. Since I have received much smaller items and less fragile, packed in a box. I immediately examined the item as soon as I opened. No dents! (whew!) I removed the plastic seal, which was easy to rip so you really won't need any pair of scissors to cut it. You wouldn't want to scratch it anyway. I seemed happy with what I've got so far until I opened it. I did feel the rim being slightly thinner and feels almost sharp enough to cut you. I did read those on some reviews. But it didn't bother me as much. But when I saw the chipped paint on the corner (photo 3 & 4), I had to think and decide if I was ok with it. I wasn't sure if it was starting to rust, for me it looked like it was. And even if it wasn't, it won't be long when it does. I wouldn't have minded if it was in the back. But the location of the chipped paint was just at the opening and right where you would unconsciously touch it when you try to open or close or grab cash. Sure, you can try to avoid it. But it's truly the small things. You mean to say I would have to remember to DO that every time with a $13 item that I just bought. That will just annoy me. So I requested for a return/exchange for a replacement. It was quick and easy to do online. No need to call the customer service rep -- which by the way they are awesome too on my other order that delivered me 2 items for a 4-pack item. That's another story and was quickly fixed.I got the notification that the replacement will be sent and delivered the next day. They didn't even have to wait for me to return the item. But I did return it right away -- right on the same day I've received it.Next day, I've received the item in the same type of packaging -- bubble mailer. I wasn't as concerned as yesterday since the item delivered yesterday was not dented. The packaging looked ok and I even left a good feedback for the delivery. The replacement item was still sealed in a plastic. I noticed on the left and right side that it seems to have some imperfection. It didn't look like a dent from delivery as it looks like the imperfection were there before the paint went over it. The funny thing about it is it reminds me of the Revain "smile" arrow logo, doesn't it? Anyway, I tried to like it. But I thought about how yesterday's item was better but just had that tiny chip while this one didn't have any chipped paint but has those curved dents on each side. I know $13 ain't much. But hey, it's $13 I can spend on a different cash box. I just truly liked this one because it's pink.So I decided to try to do another exchange and then maybe 3rd time a charm? Unfortunately, once I requested for the return/replacement, it no longer lets me choose that option. The only option left was for a refund in my original payment method. So I would have to think and see if I should re-purchase this again and try my luck again or just simply walk away. At this time, I think I will think about it. However, wouldn't it be silly of me to try this again? I mean, didn't they say "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is insane"? Yup, so maybe I'll walk away from now. It's sad because I think if it weren't for the aesthetic imperfections then I would totally make it work. If you are buying a pink cash back -- come on! you know that you are also buying it mostly for aesthetic because there are plenty of cash boxes on sale on amazon and in other stores. Although I need to emphasize that the first item I've received was not just for "aesthetic" issues. It you get a cut from that, then you will need a tetanus shot. So yes, there's no debate on trying to replace that.Liked my review or just how I tell the story? I write more at happyfoodtrip in wordpress.Regarding the lock code: I don't have any reviews on that as I didn't bother changing the codes when I received it the first time nor when I received it the replacement. The knob is plastic and makes you feel like you have a toy cash box. But I didn't mind that. To be honest, in the beginning I was debating whether to get the regular lock with the key. I was just afraid that if I've misplaced the key(s) then I will have to destroy it to get to my cash. Thus, I decided to get the one with the lock code.I hope this helps someone in wanting to try this product. My conclusion is really, try to buy it and see maybe you get to be one of the lucky ones. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for me.For the company that makes these, I hope you have a better quality assurance team because you are losing money in all these returns and exchanges. You're getting great constructive feedbacks from buyers that would have loved your product if only it delivered on quality. Also, please try to put a second or third coat of paint to prevent rusting and chipping. Your metal is obviously not all stainless steel if it looks like it's starting to rust. Thanks again but I'll just try next time once I see better reviews.Update 11.03.2020I have received a second replacement (so my 3rd cash box) a few days ago. I have already returned the first 2 ones. I want to say 3rd time a charm. I can say this is the best out of the 3 that I've received. It is not the best that I've imagined it to be. But I guess for the price and for what I needed, I think I can live with it. I can say that this is better than the second one that I've received. It does still have the same issues that I've mentioned regarding the second item. However, the "amazon smiley face" looking imperfection on the sides are not as deep as the 2nd one. No chipped paint anywhere. The inside seems good. The lock? I have not changed the codes yet. But it does lock when you turn the knob. If you keep the code that opens on, then it will allow you to just open and close it with the knob. That's what I've been doing. I'm not keeping a lot of cash here. I just needed something that I can place my cash and place receipts in. The color is nice. It's truly a pretty pink. For the "amazon smile" looking indentations on the sides, I'm not sure why they are there because there is nothing on the inside that would create that shape. It does look like that it was there before the paint covered it. So it doesn't look like it's something that was dented while in shipment. I do want to mention that this 3rd item was shipped using a box this time instead of the mailers.Customer Service - I didn't reach out to their customer service. However, when I received an email asking me what I think about the product, I had told them that I've already left a feedback. I was sent a replacement to make it right. They didn't ask me to update my review but I felt the need to update it just to be fair.Would I recommend the item? For the most part yes. When deciding to buy, just have a lower expectation on aesthetics -- even though most people, who have bought this, have decided to buy it because of the colors. I think if you can get pass any imperfections that your item might have, then it's still an overall ok product. It's not that expensive, so it's up to you if you want to take a chance and see if you get a good one the first go around. or the second go around. On my end, it was the 3rd go around. I'm glad I was able to get a better one the 3rd time around. I hope this very looonnnngggg review helped you at least.

Pros
  • Easy set up. Using it to store important docs so I don’t misplace them!
Cons
  • The combination lock is susceptible to rust and corrosion, particularly in damp or humid environments
